That Bloody Night

A jeweled dagger glints in the light of a red moon.

I raised the dagger

Raised it high

It struck like death

From the sky

I watched the blood

Watched it spatter

My victim’s death

Didn’t really matter

I hid the body

Hid it well

It’s hiding to no one

I will tell

I wiped the blade

Wiped it clean

What’s done is done

It could not be unseen

I ran for miles

Ran away

Another day on this world

I planned to stay

I disguised myself

Disguised beyond recognition

I had no regrets, no second thoughts

No contrition

I blended with the crowd

Blended with skill

The world will bend to my actions

My will

I was discovered

Discovered in a short time

They took me and bound me

No reason, no rhyme

I found my way back

Found my true home

A place where no one

Would ever wish to roam

I escaped from their grasp

Escaped and flew to him

The one person who lifted my spirits

When moments were grim

I danced the night away with him

Fulfilled his every need

We happily looked at what we had done

And watched the city bleed
