Falling

A black silhouette of a man falling from the top of a skyscraper in a busy city.

Shoved off the edge, the edge that took you so long and was so hard to climb

The screaming wave of panic floods your core as you lose your footing and begin to fall

Your eyes widen as you desperately try to regain the foothold you had lost, but your efforts are worthless

Gravity had decided that you are its next victim

You cry out for someone, but you are already in midair

The wind seems to brush by with a harsh chill against your back

It sees no reason to slow your momentum

You look up at the sky and watch it shrink away

The buildings around you seem to grow with each dying instant

You try to gasp in a breath, but the wind has stolen it

But then, as you near the ground, the wind turns into a gentle breeze and blows softly on your face

You close your eyes and wait for the splitting pain, the blow that will end your life, and you realize that your work is not done

You cannot let it end this way

You must first ravage the world for the way it treated you, let it know how badly you’ve been hurt

The ground may be inches from your body, but you know in your mind that you will survive

You will survive to destroy the world
